A key component of Vancouver Public Schools successful one-to-one technology initiative has been a year-long professional development program for classroom teachers in the use of technology as an instructional tool. The district’s team of instructional technology facilitators oversees training and provides ongoing support for educators at every school in the district.

In 2016, the ITF team began a professional development program, called Future Ready Administrators, geared specifically to school principals. The program instructs principals in the use of digital tools, allowing them to be strong examples and coaches for their staff members. Future Ready Administrators is leading to powerful shifts in the digital culture and climate of our schools; students are showing more ownership and engagement in their learning. The excitement, transparency and growth of district leaders impacts the work of our teachers and students, resulting in a positive community.
