Where did you grow up?
Electric City, Washington
Where did you go to college?
What was your college mascot?
(though we always cheered “Go Bucs”…not sure why we weren’t just the Buccaneers!)
When did you first know that you wanted to be a teacher or work in education?
April of my senior year of college; I was a last minute recruit.
Why did you become a teacher or choose the field of education?
My undergraduate degree was in history and math, so everyone assumed I’d be a teacher. I, on the other hand, really thought it was the last thing I wanted to do. Then I worked as a writing tutor for the university library and realized that I really loved helping people learn. And, I’ve always loved working with children, so I guess my family and friends all knew me a little better than I knew myself!
If you were an app, which app would you be and why?
GoodNotes. Like the back up camera in my car, at first I thought it was frivolous and unnecessary, but now I wouldn’t want to live with out it! I love that it allows you to be organized and structured with your note taking, while still allowing for creativity and flexibility; it suits my weird math/history brain.
