Where did you grow up?

I’m an Army brat, so everywhere. I went to elementary school mostly in Germany, middle and high school mostly in Texas.

Where did you go to college?

Santa Clara University and Gonzaga

What was your college mascot?

Broncos and Bulldogs

When did you first know that you wanted to be a teacher or work in education?

In college I thought I wanted to work in higher education. After college I decided teaching was for me when I was running the children’s section of a Barnes and Noble bookstore.

Why did you become a teacher or choose the field of education?

I love learning; my original goal was to be a perpetual student, but I couldn’t find someone to pay me for that. So I figured teaching was a great way always to keep learning new things.

If you were an app, which app would you be and why?

Green Screen, because I believe I can sometimes resemble a chameleon and blend into diverse environments. I love how the Green Screen app can take users to any destination they can imagine. That’s one of my goals as an educator: to help widen students’ experiences and imagination. Green Screen allows users to tell stories, explain ideas and express their creativity and unique ideas. I resemble that objective.
